Congratulations, DoubleAction, for again reaching the "God" level. It's no longer lonely at the "top," especially when I see that Xavierbreath is only 30 posts from joining us. Both you guys have gotten where you are by posting quality threads and posts that have been informative and especially helpful to people who are new to handgunning. You have both made a major contribution to making this one of the most helpful, popular and informative forums of its kind on the Internet. And, you two have even managed to maintain your sense of humor while doing it!

DA, if you mean IPSC, not well from a competition standpoint overall, but I definitely expected that, since I'm shooting production minor against 38 super compensated race guns drawn from speed draw rigs that you couldn't use in real life outside of Vermont... Compared to other production shooters I've done pretty well considering I'm a newbie... I've placed above people with many years experience in some matches and behind them in others. I can confirm that going to a range, lining up a two handed shot for two or three seconds and then being able to hit a quarter at 50 feet doesn't help in IPSC. It's far better to be able to double tap from a draw and hit a paper plate twice at 25 ft within 0.5 seconds weak-handed in IPSC. The total score being divided by the time you take penalizes me severely I don't mind, it's a great challenge and adds a whole dimension to what to work on at the range. I'm really curious to try IDPA but there are no clubs convenient to me right now. The great news for me is I'm moving to Washington state in 2004 which is of course shall issue and also the home of IPSC... at least one range there I've seen allows drawing from holster and has weekly IPSC practice sessions. I've yet to find a range in Maryland that will allow drawing from a holster and one even prohibits firing more often than one shot per second at their facility. I guess I'll have to become a Husky and drop my Terrapin name when I do move, eh?

Terrapin;Glad to see that your swimming with the big fish in the pond,so to speak.I know it helps to have the best of equiptment when having to jump in with some that have no concerns of the costs.I've been doing some investigative possiblities with a Shooting Sports Complex not too far from me,with the IPSC,IDPA,and PPP sponsored shooting events. They also offer many Clinics and Classes in Pistol,Bullseye Competitions,Rifle,Shotgun, and something new called Polite Society Events.I know there are people with very deep pockets out there, and alot of time to spend.
