I am new to the hand gun world but not guns in general, and I am preparring to purchase a hand gun, for both self defense (neighborhood and surrounding area happenings) and for target shooting for fun with a couple of friends who shoot. I am just courious about the Felk MTF. My buddy knew nothing of the this weapon and referred me to here. The gun is one of wich I am considering that is within my price range and I just wanted to find some info about it. It is offered in the 9mm, .357 SIG which both interests me, .40S&W, and .45ACP. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh and just for general info, the guns that I am looking at along with the Felk are the CZ100, Ruger P95, Smith & Wesson Sigma Series, and Springfield Arms XD models. I am not 100% on the calibur quite yet. Leaning towards 9mm or .357 SIG. Shot a couple of .40s and the lighter one (24oz S&W) had a little more kick that I liked. Course it was nothing in comparison to the .44 Magnum that I shot that day.

Hi Cal, Your friend referred you to the right place (kind of). This forum has been unmoderated for a while and gets a bit rowdy now and then. Take a look at The Handgun Forum and The GunGroup forums for better info. I'll add the links below. I can't say I've ever heard of a Felk, but I can offer a few opinions on the other makes and calibers. The CZ's are an underappreciated handgun and a good value for the money. Springfield's XD is like a glock with a grip safety, there are some concerns regarding the finish durability though. I've never handled a S&W Sigma series before, but they are not all that well regarded from what I've read. The Ruger isn't pretty, but it's built like all other Rugers - Solid. This gun will last a long time. Regarding caliber, the 9mm and .357 SIG are very different cartridges. Of the two, 9mm seems the best suited to your use in my opinion. They are sufficient for personal protection (especially with standard capacity magazines available now), and are relatively cheap for target practice. The .357 SIG has quite a bark, are expensive for plinking, and may have overpenetration issues for self defense. This is just my take though. Post your questions on the following two boards for more info: handgunforum.proboards3.com/gungroup.proboards3.com/Have fun, and stay safe, MLB

Cal; The Felk is manufactured in Austrailia;" Thunder from Down Under ?". ;D If your sights are aimed toward S&W, Ruger, Springfield, and Sig; I would remain focused toward that direction.

These other gentlemen are right please stay away from those off brands and stay more towards the major manufacturers i.e... S&W( DO NOT BUY A SIGMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Sig Sauer, ruger, glock etc... for your first gun get something that is dependable and rugged with a safety and decocker likely a S&W and please take a handgun safety course. the 357. sig is probably a little more caliber for you than you need a 9mm or a .40 S&W is really all you need check out your local gun dealer and find what feels best to you dont buy the cheapest thing you can or trust me youll regret it.
