Hi - My 226 has the original hard plastic grips. Uncle Mikes, Hogue and Sig make replacement soft rubber grips. Any experience with these? Do they make the grip fatter?
Thanks - Mike

flatpik; Hogue manufactures the factory rubber for the Sig Sport Pistols, as well as the Wood. I have some checkered rosewoods from Eagle, for one of my Sig 220s, but all others are from Hogue. This is the new wrap around finger groove grips from hogue my own 226. The rubber adds a little more to the grip, but the textured surface provides a non slip gripping surface to the grip.

FWIW: I have an early '90s 226 9 and I got the Hogue wraparounds a few years ago to try. When I finished carefully installing them, the slide release lever worked stiff & rough, and the decocker lever didn't quite feel the same. I was very careful (!) and checked tolerances, etc. I went back to the original plastic grips, but the levers have never felt as smooth as they originally did. I don't mess around with the stock installed grips on any of my Sigs any more.

Krusty; The Sig Sport Pistols are fitted with the Hogue rubber grips, with extended slide releases, decockers, and magazine releases. I'm not very fond of the extended mag release, so I ordered a standard release, and installed it.
