Jeffly; It was pretty good here, until our state began being swarmed with transplants from other parts of the country and globe. Our state takes in 500 new residents per day, and those are the counted ones. My father carried open for many years until I had a common sense discussion with him about it.The State revised the carry laws a few years ago to accomodate the concealment of handguns more so than in the past.A holster no longer has to be belt connected, handguns can be carried in brief cases, and the gun can be concealed by the use of clothing. A few years ago a cop would attempt to confiscate a person's gun if he could find a loophole;now the thieving bastard has to take the person to court to get his gun.

For The Jeffly............... You said people aren;t going to attack someone with a 45 on their hip??? Well, first of all if a killer sees that you have a gun, he will shoot you before he tries to kill anyone else. You are his first target. He knows you have a gun, so why not take you out first. Then you become the person who is caught off guard.

That is true, Jeffress, in a certain situation. You have to figure that most crimes in which you need to defend yourself the attacker isn't going into it with the specific and planned intention of killing. These situations do happen, which is why I carry concealed, but I figure most violent crimes are muggings/assaults/etc., and not first degree murder.
If someone is going to start a shooting spree, they probably will go after the guy with an obvious gun first. But if he's just looking to make a few bucks or have some twisted fun and sees someone with a gun who looks like they know how to handle themselves, I have to figure they'll be moving on to another target.
That being said, I still prefer a concealed method of carry. But wouldn't it be nice if the majority carried openly, and criminals where forced to realize that even if they took out two armed victims first, the other four in the area would waste them?
Ah, well. I guess I'm just dreaming. But this state was still a Cowboys and Indians territory 70 years ago, and it's still very possible to go to parts where every man has a gun.

It's just to bad our whole country isn't like these parts. If everyone had a gun, just think of how little crime there would be? Nobody is going to attack anyone when everyone has a gun.
