I don't have a whole lot of experience with handguns of inferior grade except on occaissions,I do however have experience with some problems regarding some aftermarket and factory magazines.I've learned that a semi-auto pistol is only as reliable as the magazine that feeds the ammunition. In the 1911 there is an entire industry built around various magazines, some are less than $5 or $10 dollars each, and represent a significant savings for someone who just bankrolled the purchase of a new pistol. The feed lips on most of these are weak, they will stretch, and cause misfeeds and jams, the springs hold tension poorly, and the followers fail to lock up the slide stop most of the time.I rely mostly on the factory magazines for any semi-auto, but found the Wilson-Rogers for the 1911s,from Wilson Combat, to be very strong with removable base plates, that are retained to the tube, similar to that of Sig's magazines. The Magazine Tubes are of very strong stainless steel with self lubricating polymer follwers.Any replacement parts for the Wilson-Rogers magazines can be ordered from Wilson Combat also. This is one example of a high quality aftermarket magazine.

www.cdnninvestments.com/I've purchased several pre-ban magazines from these folks and they all have worked flawlessly. The only challenge I've had with them is when I've used Wolf ammo. If I stick with good brass ammo, no problems at all. The also have the best prices I've seen anywhere.
