Heres the deal Walmart sells a box of Winchester FMJ 165 GRAIN 40 CAL box of 100 rounds for $14.97 Their 50 round boxes same ammo is $8.79 So your better of buying the 100 round box.
I asked the gun shop if they price matched
The gun shop sells the 50 round box for $7.99. They told me they can not get 100 round boxes from Winchester. That Walmart must have a special deal with Winchester to get 100 round boxes and only they can get them.
Can this be true ?

Yes, the deal is for real. I buy all my 9mm ammo at WalMart - "Winchester White box" is the marketed ammo- 100 rounds for 10.98 last time I bought. And it is not only in my state, others I have read have confirmed similar pricing.
I also have seen the same Winchester White Box ammo at the Gun Show and at Sport Authority sporitng goods store. At the gun show it is abotu the same price, at the Sport Authorit y it is a couple dollars more but still a deal.
I have only paid attention to the Winchester White Box Ammo for 9mm, not sure what the comparative price in other calibers are, but I imagine a similar deal.

Walmart? Pistol Ammo? You guys must live on a different planet than I.Since these Wamarts quit selling pistols done here, the only thing I can find from their store is pellet ammo.Who needs them;K-Mart quite selling guns, and look what happened to them.Walmart used to sell some very good handguns,at very good prices, and if you found anything wrong with the gun they would agree to exchange it,or offer you a refund.Really hated to loose there business.

Dubb,
You mean CA actually has something that's gun related that's NOT illegal to sell ? Well I guess CA Democrat thinking is they can have the bullets but not the gun. LOL!
Actually knock on wood the last two years the bullet tax has been shot down in CA , hope it never passes. The first time around they wanted 5 cents per bullet, the last bill they tried to make it 10 cents a bullet.
Scary scary.

I know what you mean Mitch; We have a new Governor that impersonated a "Good Ole Boy" to get the rural redneck vote,in order to capture the Office, and he has been trying to tax everything.I wouldn't buy a used car from that two faced hayseed peckerwood.I've lived here my entire life, and this is the first Governor that I have virtually no respect for, whatsoever.

Dubbie, I am told that WalMarts in some parts of the country will still sell you a handgun, they just don't display them or carry them in each store.
Mrbond, in the Baltimore area, Walmarts do not carry the 100 count boxes in 40 S&W but they do have 9mm at $11.95 per 100. Sports Authority, D i c k's Sports and Bass Pro Shops (Outdoor World) also carry the 100-ct white boxes so it is not a WalMart only deal.
Ever compared the 50-st and 100-ct white box ammo side-by-side? The Winchester ammo in the 50-ct box has a different two-tone rounds (darker colored bullet) and lacks the grease that coats the rounds in the 100-ct box ammo. Is that grease worse for your pistol or does it require cleaning the mags more often? The only other brands I've seen with grease are Remington UMC 9mm and Wolf, most other brands are bone-dry, especially CCI Blazer.

My Wal-Mart had the 50-count box in Winchester but I don't recall seeing the 100 count. I'll have to check. I imagine they would order it if it was requested.
My store only sells rifles and shotguns, no pistols. They have ammo for just about everything in pistols and long guns and usually in at least two brands, Winchester and the Reminton UMC.

Ok I went to Wally World to get more Ammo. What do I find they still didnt have any more Winchester 165 grain boxes of 100. It has been a month and I stop by once a week.I have to travel to the next state over which is only 45 min one way.The store I want to buy them is 10 mins.So I had to put in a complaint to the head manager and told him it has been a month. He said he will order 10 boxes tommorow. We will see what happens. Not all Walmarts carry these winchester 165 grain boxes of 100. I found that out today as well Mr Bond

MrBond,
I have 2 or 3 Wal-Marts I check on, the 2 that regularly have it - it's gone very quickly they say, literally in a day or two and are always re-ordering it. Last time I went there, I bought 9 boxes and the guy's jaw just dropped - lol.... well I didn't want to have to wait another week or two. lol

Glad Mr. Bond started this post. I found out my Super Center stocks the 100 round box. Not sure if they always have or just started.
Didn't get to check the price. Seems like there is NEVER anyone at the sporting goods counter!

Houston area Wal-Marts have the 100rnd box for 10.98 (9mm). Many times they are sold out.
It beats every online deal I've seen, even the cheap russian stuff can't beat the price.
Wall Mart also has a good selection of cleaning stuff and good price on the Shoot & See products from Birchwood Casey.
