That is exactly what I intend to do--take her to a gunstore and have her rack the slide and then rent and shoot. I know what you mean about the Walther. If it weren't for the James Bond movies they probably wouldn't sell any. They totally SUCK!!! My brother bought a .380 for his wife. She could not rack the slide. We took it outside on his ranch and set up a target to try it out. The trigger is so bad we couldn't hit anywhere near good enough to be useful, even close up. I asked some cop friends of mine who shoot competitively. They said "Forget the Walther, you can't even do a trigger job on the lousy things. We won't even carry them as backups." I think I'll call Teddy Jacobsen down in Texas just to see what he says about that. I don't distrust the cops, but I always like a second opinion, and Teddy used to be a cop, as well as do the finest trigger jobs in the country. Thanks for your input.

Agreed totally on the walther .380 acp. It was sold after one month. My wife only admires it but she can't shoot it, ha-ha. Makes a good conceal gun though, but i'd rather go with other many choices out there.

As far as CZ styles go, I am a proud owner of a Witness PC 9mm. This gun is a fantastic CZ clone that combines great style and reliability of the classic CZ with a lightweight composite body. It has fired for me flawlessly and with a price tag of only about $300 it is hard to beat. Also she can later purchase conversion kits for .40 cal for a larger firearm or 22 for practice. These kits include a barrel, slide, recoil spring, and magazine for only $200. Check it out at www.eaacorp.com!

I own a 229 and wouldn't reccomend it or a 228 to your daughter. The lighter and smaller the pistol is the more likely she is to carry it with her. I would reccomend something with a composite frame.
As far as inexperience goes I think the glock is maybe the simpleist pistol out there. Thats one of the reasons that when most PD's went from revolvers to semi's glock took the bigest piece of the pie( I know there was other considerations like price and marketing) but I don't think you car argue with the fact that they are an extremely easy tool to learn. They come in a multitude of sizes and are inexpensive as compared to the sig.
just my .02

When I had the hankering to get a 9mm, I had no real preference for brand or anything like that. I leaned toward Glock, Sig-Sauer and Ruger, but was appalled at the high costs of the Glocks and Sigs. I think their high price had more to do with their enduring popularity than inherent superiority - kind of like 1911s, IMO.
Anyway, when my local gunstore trotted out its weekly ad and I saw a CZ-75B on sale for around $350, I finally scratched my itch. All I saw was a nice-looking gun that was reasonably priced, and in a caliber that would not bankrupt me.
Little did I know that I had stumbled onto one of the finest 9mm handguns around. I did not do a huge amount of research in my decision, since I really wanted a plinker in a respectable caliber, rather than a carry or home defense gun (an uninvited guest will be staring down the large 12-guage bore of my shotgun).
Anyway, after a few thousand rouds through it, I am now thoroughly a fan of CZ pistols. Although mine is a full-sized model, CZ makes compact models of the 75/85 series as well. As for the price? Like I said, mine was $350, and I think it is about $150 underpriced (Shhhh! don't tell any dealers I said that!) I believe that CZ's represent a terrific value. They are like Lexus cars were in the late 1980's, when they were on a par quality-wise with BMW's and Mercedes, but about half the price. Get your now before the prices go up!
