Just purchased a Taurus Raging bull 44 w/6.5 in. barrel and would like to know anyone's opinion on what would be a good target round to use in this gun. I went out to the range last week and fired the gun for the first time, I used Winchester USA 240gr jsp and was very pleased with the way the gun shot but at $20 a box their a bit pricey. I dont have much experience with this caliber so I would like to practice as much as possible. Also would like your opinion on the best hunting round for whitetails. Thanks

dubbleakshun; read your reply, thanks alot for the info. I have one other question for you, do you have any trouble with the semi wadcutter leaving lead build up in your barrels after a session at the range? I bought 250 rounds of American Eagle 40sw 180 gr lead at a local show to fire thru my XD and it seemed to leave quite abit of lead buildup in the barrel,I'm going to use FMJ next time at the range. I only paid 7.95 box, so I guess I got what I paid for. Thanks again.

xd fan'I shoot most all my magnums in the semi jacketed hollow points now,but I was shooting the lead wadcutters.I get the JHP so reasonable now,I just stay with it.Georgia Arms ammo is real good in the .357 & .44 magnums,no harder to clean up than anything else.I've been using the Tetra Bore lube lately and it seems that all my barrels clean up faster.I also use a dab of flitz polish down the bore with a jagg to finish cleaning it also.I know how important it is in finding quality ammunition at a reasonable price, and I do not mind passing the word on to others,in order to help keep some companies alive and well.
