Ok I think I'm even more confused now. I was told that all 1911 clones parts were interchangable. What would be a better first gun This firestorm or a EAA Witness 45 and why? Also on a side note can some one tell me what Personal pertection rounds are? LightingNate; The interchangability among the various Colt-Browning Clones are with the dimentions of the frame, slide, and pin hole locations in the frame. Most aftermarket parts are based on the dimentions of the original Colt-Browning 1911, which simplifies the fitting of such parts. If the parts turns out to be undersized for a clone, such as a sear, trigger, pin, barrel bushing, or firing pin stop, there is very little one can to to stretch the part to fit the pistol.

I had feeding problems with the GD's, and polished my feed ramp, all was well. I personally liked the Winchester SXT.
Edit: Just going further here. What if you acutally had to use it? In a civil lawsuit the other sides attorney can argue that you had "Killer Bullets".
I found that the Winchester white box, personal protection, is about 13 dollars, and 50 rounds, at Wally World.

dragOn;tptplayer gave good sound advice on the georgia-arms ammunition for the .45acp. You can get their loaded + P Gold Dot Bullet in 185 gr., which will get you a muzzle velosity of 1100 fps, with 537 ft. lbs. of energy, at a cost of $13.75 for 50 rds; It is very hard to beat that in a cartridge such as this one. The georgia arms ammunition is by far some of the best in the .45 acp that I have ever used, whether it's reloaded fmj for target practice, or their Shear Power Plus Gold Dots for defense. Either way, their ammunition is smooth and accurate; I've been shooting their .45acp for over 15 years, in various Colts, Sig 220s, and most recently in Wilson CQBs.All their ammunition is top drawer performance cartridges, whether it is for a semi-auto or revolver.
