I am trying to set up my RCBS Seater/Crimper die I just purchased. It is from a 3-die set for .357 mag./.38 Sp. P/N: 18208. I cannot get the Seater plug to thread far enough into the die to allow the bullet to be seated to proper depth. With the seater plug screwed into the die until it bottoms out I get .835" from the base of the die to the base of the bullet. The die is .985 dp. to the Roll crimp step. That means I can only seat the bullet.15" deep. My bullets, Hornaday XTP .158gr. JHP require a seat depth of at least .35. I have figured that to reach my 1.590 OAL with my case trimmed to 1.280 I need to seat my bullet to a depth of .360. It appears that the drill in the top of the die that is clearance for the unthreaded portion of the Seater plug needs to be deeper. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong or what I should do. Thank you.
