Ok, so I picked me up some of the Wilson Ultimalube Grease and I realized the other day that I don't really have an idea how to use it.
To all of you who have used grease on the guns, what do you use to apply it, how much, where, etc.? How should the action feel after application? What should it look like? I've heard to use grease on the sliding parts and oil on the rotating parts and finishes, but that still leaves a lot of questions.
Any input on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jeffly;I use the Wilson Ultimalube Grease of my slide and frame rails, inner barrel bushing,Barrel Cam,and upper barrel locking lug or block. On my 1911s I use it on the rails, barrel links, upper lugs, barrel exterior, and I rub a little on the disconnector, sear, trigger shoe and stirrup, pins, and center rail.I use Brownell's Action lub on the hammer hooks.I only apply a very small amount to these metal to metal areas. The Ultimalube Grease will reduce wear tremendously, while providing a thin layer of protection which forms an adhesive to the metal with no run off. It's not gummy like other grease lubes, which might retard the action of some finer fire control components.

So do you just apply a thin layer to those areas with your fingers? And once it's on, should you be able to feel the grease in the frame rails and action, or should it feel the same?
Thanks for the info, by the way

Jeffly; The Wilson Ultimalube comes in a syringe applicator;I use the needle dispenser to run a small bead of lube down the inner rails of the frame and slide, wiping off the excess after a few manual slide cycles.I smear the inner bushing, the top locking block ( or Lugs ),and most other areas where metal to metal rub is evident by wear ( Shine bare areas ).The rails will smooth out because of the fit,the other areas need smoothing to a thin amount.
