Brand new Sig P226 here. Functions great EXCEPT that the slide won't lock after the last shot. When the slide is manually cycled with an empty mag, it locks back. The rangemaster claims that this is not uncommon for a brand new guns, as the spring is stiff and needs to be broken in. Does that seems right to you wise folks, or do I have an actual magazine or gun malfunction on my hands??

mummer; Your Range Master might be right, because the slide can feed ammunition without going into a full cycle of the slide. This means with a stronger recoil spring, the slide is not traveling far enough to the rear to allow the slide lock to rise into the recess's locking notch of the slide. I have not had this trouble with my 226, but I use alot of 357 sig, and high velosity .40 in mine. The higher velosity ammunition will provide more work on the recoil spring. Something else I've done on my 220 in 38 super is to order a varible recoil spring calibration pack from Wolff Gun Springs. The variable spring pack contains 3 recoil springs of different power ratings to allow one to tune the recoil of the slide, according to the ammunition most frequently used. One thing that will help smooth up the slide cycle is applying some gun lube on the frame and slide rails. I used the Wilson Ultimalube Grease on the inner rails of the frame and slide, this helps, and is recommended that the rails are lubed prior to shooting the Sigs. Hope this helps.
