Gents, I am considering adding a Taurus 94 UL 2" Long Rifle Revolver to my collection to acclimate my wife to shooting with mild recoil... learn hand-eye, sight picture, etc. This, after scaring her bigtime with the report flash and kick of a 2" 38. Dumb. While she has gotten her CCW, she is still pretty afraid of the whole gun thing, and suggested we buy a mild 22. I bought her a combo NAA mag/LR but she is afraid of its minimal size. (The 1 5/8 barrell is pretty close to the fingers.) I have also bought the amazingly low recoil ported Taurus 332 in 32 HR mag... especially with the 32SW longs... but haven't been able to get her to shoot that, yet. I badly want her to be protected and am willing to drop another $300 to get this going.
The several Taurus 22's I have dry fired (sparingly).. have had brutally hars DA triggers. Does anyone own a Taurus .22, and how is your trigger? (My Taurus 605, 332, M85UL all have very sweet triggers.) I suspect the factory sets up the triggers/hammer springs heavy to ensure proper firing of the harder to strike rimfire cartridge.
Any thoughts/experiences? Thanks! Paul

Shovel99hgr, I feel for ya man. I am trying to get my wife to be comfortable with handguns and it is not going so well. My opinion on .22 is that they are great fun and great for learning to shoot. The round is as controllable as it gets and there is less noise and recoil. However, I don't believe it is a good defensive round. Maybe better than nothing, but I think I would start there and have her work her way back up. Maybe a .38 special with a larger frame would be more comfortable, like a model 66 with a 4" barrel. Less concealable, but much better balance than a snubby. I am not familiar with the Taurus, but feel free to come over to our forum and post the question. Somebody there may be more able to answer that. This forum kinda died a few months back. Hope to see you there. gungroup.proboards3.com/index.cgi

I just took my wife out to the range for the first time. Went pretty well. There's a thread going at the handgun forum (see sig line below).
Good advice to be had there and at the one TA mentioned above.
Take Care, MLB
