Would like to know if Astra's are any good. Found an Astra .44 magnum revolver and would like to know if this is a dependable firearm. I am looking for a revolver to carry as a backup when hunting.

The Spanish Astras have often offered handguns with similar designs of more noted manufacturers, at cheaper prices; Which you are probably already aware of. For a revolver chambered in the 44 magnum, Ruger and S&W manufacturers excellent revolvers, which some can be found on the pre-owned markets at very reasonable prices. I have always lived with the thought that if all else fails, I can always depend on a "Back Up" plan.

Redfoxe,
A friend of mine purchased a Astra 1911 clone in .45 acp. It was a good and reliable handgun. If it were me, I too would seek out a Ruger or Smith & Wesson. They have a better history of reliabiltity and performance. I would look for a S&W M-629. A Ruger would also be a good choice.
