I have inherited an Astra 300 from my father. He took it off a dead German soldier during the second world war. I just had it cleaned and the gun shop it is in really good condition and anyhow the serial no. is 619620.
Any information would be appreciated.

The Spanish Astra 300, that was used by the German forces during World War II, will bear the Waffenamt marks. Around 171,000 of these pistols were manufactured prior to 1947. The Nazi Proofed pistols get 25 % mark up. The 300 was looked on as a smaller version of the 400. German authorities purchased 85,390 7.65mm and 9mm Astra 300 pistols for the army and Luftwaffe during WWII. Of the cataloging that I have on this pistol, it is valued at $400. dollars in excellent condition, without any mark ups for German markings. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the information. I really am not wanting to sell this gun but just wanted some history. My father told me the story I'm sure many times... but did I really listen...
I also have the original holster, two clips with bulletsand the original paperwork given to my father dated 9/8/45. Says the gun was captured from the enemy etc.and gave him permission to bring it back with him.
Thanks again, Sue

I'm always glad to see the heirlooms remain in their place of family treasures. These guns, along with many others, are worth far more as the prized possessions that they are. It is not the gun which increases the value, as much as how many there are available; In your case there is only one, and no other like it, which would make it irreplacable.
