Hello my Dad got a used 44 mag by taurus model 2-440081 M44 CP 8 3/8" barrel. My question is what would be a good holster for this size? I know he wants a belt slide it can be nylon or leather any suggestions?

Razorback-
I have a Taurus Model 608 w/ 6 1/2 inch barrel in .357 Magnum, so I was kinda in the same boat as your father is now. I currently have both a leather and an Uncle Mikes Nylon holster. I rarely use the leather one for a few reasons. Firstly, I hunt with my gun and the leather can be adversly affected by moisture. The other reason is that, even though leather looks better, there it's a significantly tighter fit, so it's noticeably more difficult to draw, especially with all the surface area of a large gun.
If your father plans to hunt with it, I would strongly recomend a Nylon as opposed to leather, and shoulder as opposed to waist, just b/c a 57oz. gun on the hip for more than a few hours can get pretty darn uncomfortable.....anyway, congrats to your dad on the purchase...this gun looks like a bad motha'.

mikeolev is Right; The Leather rigs will squeek when moving around in a stand also.

Hmmmm your right about the leather "noise" so nylon it is. I went to the Uncle Mikes website and looked at the shoulder harness and I think that would be a better choice for him. Great thinking...Thanks
