I just bought a new Smith-Wesson's 9VE, I have two questions about this pistol and I hope someone who had same experience can give me some advices. 1) I failed to do "field stripping disassembly." I followed the instruction book and did procedure as following: a) Move the magazine. b) Pull the trigger once. c) Move the slide approximately 1/8" to the rear and depress the takedown catch /Barrel stop on both sides of the frame, the catches were not easy to depressed . d) The slide can be forward about 1/8" while depressing the takedown catches, but I couldn't pull it out . I called S&W this morning, they said I should also pull the trigger when I push down the takedown catches then I can pull out the slide ( they never said that at instruction book). I need to try tonight if it is working for me or not. But I think this is more complicated operation than other guns at this point.
2) I found this kind of "pivoting trigger" is hard to be controlled, if I shot once, when I want to shot the second, the trigger doesn't work, I have to pull at the end of trigger again that can possibly make it work.
Thanks for helping!

A couple of quick comments.
Please make sure that there isn't a round in the chamber before you "pull the trigger once." I'm not sure if there is a magazine disconnect, but it really dosen't matter. I'm not fond of field stripping procedures that require your finger on the trigger anyway. (Glocks included) It violates one of the basic safety rules, your finger should not be in the trigger guard (let alone pulling it) unless you're ready to fire.
Regarding your "pivoting trigger" problem. This doesn't seem normal. If your trigger dosen't return after the first shot, something is wrong. Take it to a gunsmith to get it fixed.

Hmmm... pull trigger... retract slide... depress takedown catch...
Where do you get that third hand from? ;D
Good luck, MLB
