While attending a gun show yesterday, I came across a dealer selling Kel-Tec semi-autos. Can someone give me the "lowdown" on these firearms since I have never heard of them. Although I came close to buying one for my wife, I thought it best to do a littel research first.

Kel-Tec makes very small caliber semi-autos for concealed carry. They are based out of Florida as I recall.
The Pros: I own a 3-AT in .380 and it's a great little pocket gun. For $250 - $275 you can't beat the price. It's reliable, reasonable accurate and very easy to conceal in a pocket with or without a holster.
I have a DeSantis and Thad Rybka holster for it and carry it as a back-up with my Kimber PB Pro Ten II or in a pair of shorts if I just need a little back up piece.
The Cons: Being a .380 I hope I never have to shoot anyone with it...of course I'd rather not have to shoot anyone at all, even with an S&W 500... Accuracy is good considering the sights are a white dot and a white line. If your intended target is more then 10 feet away (hopefull running away from you!) save your ammo. It is reliable but not comfortable to shoot for extended periods of time as the grip is short and very thin. Due to it's small size, it is very easy to conceal but don't expect it to scare your attacker away as it looks like a toy gun, especially in low light.
As a pocket gun it's first rate and reliable and that's what counts.

Thanks Topshooter. I appreciate the opinion although I'm getting far different ones locally. Several people have told me to stay away from them but then two different collector friends of mine told me to make the investment. So who knows......if nothing else, maybe some day it will become a collector's piece.

I don't think a Kel-Tec is an investment handgun. Very good work gun, but not likely to appreciate in value.
