I am hoping someone can help me with some information. I have a S&W US Army Model 1917 .45 handgun. I have been trying to locate some information on this gun, and even though alot if info is avaiable I cannot find anything for a Nickel version of this hangun only blue. Mine is Nickel and the serial number is 117073 Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be that a gun of that age has been nickled by a gunsmith sometime in its lifetime. I think a lot of 17's saw military service at some point. It may have needed a new paint job after one of its previous owners didn't take the proper care of the finish. Good luck on finding out what you need to know.
