Anyone know where I can get the "rubber bullets" for my SAXD-40. I'm sure any .40 S&W round will work in it.

I went through every ammo, tactical and LE supply site I have - even did a few Yahoo searches and couldn't come up with anything but 12 gauge in rubber slugs.
Is that actually what your looking for? All the dept.'s I know use the 12 gauge for riot control, etc. - I've never seen a rubber pistol caliber. The only things I can think of are Training/practice ammo, that fires a plastic projectile for learning trigger control only - or frangible/pre-fragmented ammunition, like Glaser or PMC Green which are the exact opposite of 'non-lethal'.

Sorry Jonboy I stand corrected...
Greywolfe good catch!

What are your intentions with them? -if you dont mind me asking- A literal "stun" round or something else? I ask only because, ballistically, I can't see a small projectile like a .40 being able to balance out an optimal velocity/energy transfer without penetration being an issue. That's not to say I don't think they exist, just that I can't comprehend the physics to the point that they would be effective.
If nothing else, you've got my mind awake this morning anyway. By all means, when you are able to remember what site you saw them on, post it so that I can take a look at them.

Ohmagawd! EVERYONE needs to check out those last two links. This is really getting insane. According to someone's thinking, you should load ammo, at least the first round, that shows you aren't trying to hurt somebody!

yeah...........as far as I'm concerned, the first round will be the one that drops them; there are no warning shots. If a threat merits me pulling my weapon in defense, I want to be able to engage and end it as swiftly as possible in order to prevent any further threat to myself and my family. If anybody wants to carry a firearm loaded with 'friendly' munitions in order to be P.C. , then they should just buy themselves a nice pellet gun...........some of them look real enough - or a paint-ball gun; you could shoot them with red paint to mark them as Bad Guys.

That's right, Greywolf. I usually have have the hottest load available ready to fire, not something that's "less than lethal." It's all beginning to sound like what they are going through in Europe where they have the attitude that if someone breaks in your front door you should run out the back door rather than endanger their lives. I've seen cases in England and Italy where homeowners were prosecuted for shooting intruders.

For me;"less than lethal" would be something you do if you driving home from work, eating breakfast,or sitting around the pool. With a defensive firearm,a very fast end to a situtation is the last and only resort to a means of survival.Firequest does have some unusual ammunition, and Delta force is a good place for other things involving parts for the Ar-15 and 1911.One shot stops in a cartridge is probably it's best endorsement.

I have used less than lethal ammo (rubber bullets, lead shot bean bags, wooden dowels and dense foam cylinders) in our State's prison and being part of the tactical response team have been shot with it in (we practice and test equipment on ourselves). While they are a wonderful tool to increase use of force options for law enforcement I do not recommend them for civilian use. THEY CAN STILL BE LETHAL AT CLOSE RANGES OR WHEN FIRED AT CERTAIN VULNERABLE BODY AREAS.
In the event you were forced to use a weapon to defend yourself, a slick lawyer may use the fact that you maintained specialty rounds against you, inferring you INTENDED to eventually use your weapon against a human being. You are better off to use what ever you train or shoot with to defend yourselt if required. They work and you are a recreational shooter and used what you had available to defend yourself.
As a last note, DO NOT EVER test non-lethal ammo on yourself or others! We did so under strictly controlled conditions, with extensive protective gear and we still experience a number of injuries (cuts, scrapes, horrible bruising, and on one occasion a badly broken finger). The expense of purchasing and properly training with this type of ammo is also prohibitive for most shooters.

I don't know for sure, but this might help you too: www.bluepress.comlook up X-Ring Rubber Bullets. "Designed for safe, low-cost practice when firing live ammunition is not practical..."

I made up my own non-lethal ammo, took 38 shotshell drilled out the front with a dremel, added 8bb's and the rest of the #7 mix and glued the front plastic cap shut. It works great, actually read about using the first 2 rounds in a revolver with shot mix from the gun write Dene Grendel in one of his books, try it at the distance of 7 feet its great, shoot some old magazines..the CCI seems to have an extra kick besides..with auto's shotshells are not that good, but in a colt cobra or 649 smith the mixture works wonders.
