Real novice here. I have a S&W 19-5 with the 6" barrel. I haven't shot in about 15 years , and I've always lived where I could shoot outdoors. Now I want to start shooting again and I'm in the city and will need to go to a range. Here's my question. I've heard/read many things about the best ammo for my gun. I've heard keep the ratio of 38 Specials to 357s about 9:1. I've heard always shoot 158 grain, never the lower stuff. I've heard that lead wad or semi-wad makes the gun a real b%#ch to clean, always used JHP. Now taking all this in, I've tried to find 158 grain JHP 38 special ammo and have had no luck. Out of what I've read, what's true and what a bunch of crock? What would you suggest to use? Thanks.

JJ; For target practice you can use a 158 gr. plated semi-wadcutter which is not as messy as the lead bullets. I obtain mine through a company that I've been doing business with for over 14 years. As you probably already know; Although the 19 is chambered for the .357 magnum, it was designed to be carried with that cartridge more than is was to handle a steady diet of it. www.georgia-arms.com
