If you live in Tennessee please write your House Representative regarding the defferment of House Bill 1710. You can go to www.legislature.state.tn.us to locate your rep and also look up the details of HB1710. Bascially if passed the bill will allow handgun carry permit holders to carry in restaurants that serves alcohol so long as they don't drink. The State Senate passed bill 1531 in April but it met with opposition in the house. It has been deffered until next session so please take the time to write your rep and urge them to support bill 1710. Check out www.tennesseefirearms.com/ it has a good tool that will generate a letter for you if you like.

I am not a tennessee resident, but as a strong 2nd amendment upholder, I guess I still could not vote against that bill. It clearly is gun control, which is against everything I stand for, but I see no reason that someone who is going to be drinking alcohol, and therefore under the influence of it, should be allowed to have a gun. It's just as easy to kill someone with a car by a driver under the influence, as it is with a drunk handgun carrier. I carry every day of my life, but the day I drink alcohol while I have a deadly weapon on my side is the day I wish to seal my fate. I hate drunk drivers with a deadly passion, so I see no reason to approve of drinkers carrying guns. Sorry blharris, I honor everything else you say on this forum, because you are knowledgable about guns, but here is where we differ

Jeffress77, I think you may have miss read my post. I feel that we should be able to carry in a restaraunt that serves alcohol as long as we DON'T drink! I agree no one should drink and carry a firearm.
