Doubleaction, I'm in Virginia, and our permits are supposed to be honored in West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, which are boder states. Also, bordering those, our permits are recognized in Indiana and Michigan. Virginia also shares reciprocity with Montana, Utah, Idaho, and Alaska, but how I'm supposed to get to get there legally with my gun is another story! It's a start, but I'd sure like to see a Nationwide permit! I mean, what the heck, are we Americans or not? It seems to me one FBI check is as good as another! Slick

Slick; The right to bear arms should not be infringed upon.As a law abidding citizen I refuse to go anywhere where that right is compromised;that is one reason that I go to restaurants that do not serve alcoholic beverages, and quit going to baseball games.I'll just find other places to go and other things to spend my money on where gun carrying priviledges are unrestricted.

The only people affected by gun laws and restrictions are you and I, the law-abiding citizen. Case in point, this Muhhamed "sniper" mutt; dishonorably discharged from the military (twice being investigated for weapons infractions while in service), and restricted from purchasing firearms due to a restraining order he was able to buy an assault rifle over the counter...
States that prohibit firearms only render the victim unarmed and helpless; they do nothing to de-fang the criminal. ******************** It's even easier for a kid to get a Tec-9 than a pack of Newports.

I'm working now to have a young man's rights restored which was taken from him under the domestic violence ammendment. He was falsley accused and falsely convicted with no priors, not even a speeding ticket. He has been employed by the same emplyer since he graduated from high school ten years ago. This is one ploy for the goernment to strip the rights of honest citizens. We live by the law, that is our weakness.

Doubleaction, Outstanding rebuttle on that last comment, I'd just made the same comment to a coworker an hour before I saw your post. People have a hard time understanding all the different laws that are out there...man made, God's or natures. Best Regards, Tetryl

I reckon everyone interprets Law in many different forms but I look at God's Laws as the laws of life and man made laws as those written on paper.I respect and abide by both but feel resentment and unfair treatment by alot of paper laws. Thanks Tetryl.

There is a bill in Congress to provide national recognition of State CCW permits. It's been awhile since I've seen or heard anything on it. I think it was H.R. 382. I wrote my Congressman at the time but haven't heard what happened to it.
Michigan honors all other CCW permits, but I had to print out the list of states that will honor mine.

I hope you conceal carry guys and gals realize how lucky you are to have the privelige. Here in Illinois, we can only dream of it. It's no wonder Chicago is the murder capital of the world. We do have a limited conceal carry that is nothing but a loophole in the law. It can be in a fanny pack type of rig ,but it has to be unloaded. But you can have the magazine right next to the gun. Better than nothing I suppose. Check out www.concealcarry.org for more info on the subject.

Where I'm from we just call them carry permits,we once called them gun toter permits,we have had to add a little to our carry law such as belt connected holsters, now it is just a holster device.I have heard of Illinois laws and find it difficult to imagine anyone carrying an unloaded gun for protection. If you get tired of it we could use a few more law abiding citizens in my town;the criminals run free here too.

Carrying an unloaded gun is not that hard to imagine. A bunch of our soldiers did just exactly that over in Lebanon. If you remember that, you probably remember what happened to about 250 of them. If you ever needed an example about what happens when you depend on an empty gun for protection, that was it.

The idea of a nation-wide permit makes so much sense to those of us who travel. What the do-gooders ignore is the fact that the CRIMINALS are already doing it. Laws only affect the actions of those who respect the law. What makes these folks criminals is the fact that they don't care about the laws!!! Look at Washington, DC! BTW, a site I use to check out this subject is www.packing.org/ . It lists reciprocity, states that your state honors, and states that honor your permit. I sincerely hope I can go the rest of my life without having to take this gun and shoot somebody. I have zero desire to do so. However, if the decision has to be made I'll choose what I need to do over what I'd like to do. My family is depending on it.

I agree Brohawk,I look at the ownership and carrying of firearms by the public as a deterant toward crime. One's ability to deploy a firearm as a weapon, emphasizes a zero tolerance to being a victum of crime. In my town we have our own shooting range.
