Where can I find information on New York State and or federal handgun laws (and other laws for that matter)? I found some stuff on the packing . org site but I was hoping for something more official. They give you a brief rundown of where you can carry when you apply for your permit but that will never hold up to the law. I hate the fact that "ignorance is no excuse", but its like pulling teeth to get information about the actual laws. Thank you.

Try going to the New York State Police website. I know in my state there is a wealth of information on our Dept. of Public Safety site. Have you tried a search on "N.Y. state gun laws"?

Hello
It may be the long way, but. You could go back to Packing . Org and look up your states laws. It will give you the codes or statute ie: NYCode #****, or NYStatute #****. Then you would have a place to start. Find a Law libary, sometimes at a local libary they will have this. And look up the current laws yourself, check the dates and make sure you have the latest revision. I know this is a lot of research but you would then have the best answer.
