One of the best things to check a 1911 for hammer follow after doing a trigger job is weighted Dummy Cartridges. These are actual cases and FMJ bullets minus primer caps and powder. They are weighted as loaded cartridges would be.Brownell's sells an assortment of different calibers but the cases are non crimped and the bullet moves further in the case as they are used over and over. This is safer than dropping live cartidges, dropping the slide on an empty chamber, waiting till you get to the range,or worse, when you rack your slide using live ammunition risking the chance of the pistol going into full auto.
