I bought my first real gun ( .22 rifle ) two weeks ago. The gun store contacted my local police department to check my background before they sold this gun to me. But I have some questions:
1)I like to know if I need to register in my local police department by myself. I believe right now the serials number of this gun and my information have been stored in police 's database already, I just want to make sure if I have finished all the legal procedures .
2) Second , if I sell this gun someday in future, I can sell it to second hand store or sell it online I understand that I should go through FLLgun dealer to sell my gun not simply by myself, but my question is that if my local police department will update my record after the selling or I need to contact to them by myself. Since the gun selling procedure is complicated and I don't want my record still showing that the gun is still under my record after I sold this gun. Thanks!

efang; The legal transfer of firearms differs from one state to the next. It would be wise for you to call the local office of the A.T.F, Sheriffs Department, or Firearms Dealership. The Firearms Dealers know quite alot about these laws, since they are under very close scrutiny of the BATF and State guidlines for transferring firearms. In my Home State we do not contact Law Enforcement Agencies for transactions; However, Our Federal Licensed Firearms dealers are under the watchful eye of the B.A.T.F.; while complying to our present state requirements for transferring firearms.
