GOOD CHOICE I WILL HAVE TO SAY , WHICH EVER OF THE TWO YOU LIKE THE MOST. I have to say I like the WALTHER, but for the money you can't beat the SPRINGFIELD XD. The p99 has more features but the xd has a life time warranty that will transfer to the next owners if you sale it. Which will only increase the value of the xd ,now I can tell you the walthers have droped in value. But they are both good guns. YOU MADE A GOOD CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO. ;D GOOD LUCK LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE YOU GET. RONNIE45

I can't comment on the Walther cause I have not shot it. I do own an XD-40 and can tell you that it is now my favorite gun in my collection. It shoots great, just feels right in my hands, cleans easily, and is priced right. If you have a choice of gun shops, shop around for the best price as I have seen the price on this gunvary greatly. I got mine for $414.00 with a $10.00 off coupon at my favorite gun store.

If someone offered to present me with a choice between the two as a gift I would snatch the Walther rather swiftly.

I own the P-99 in 9mm, and it is the best weapon I have ever owned. I have had Glocks, Springfields, IM Metal (the basis of the X-D) and I LOVE my walther!!! If you don't get the walther, you will always want it any way, so you may as well get it.

Ronnie45, as I stated earlier, I have had my share of 9mms. From the 92f i used in the military , a Glock 17, almost embarassed of the Norinco 77B, the I.M. and now the Walther. On my last go at the range, also my first with this weapon, it grouped within milimeters of each other when benched. Although, a bit to the right. After 4 magazines, I realized that it had adjustable sights. After a few clicks it was as right as rain. Upon my rapid fire testing, I was amazed at the target reaquisition time, recoil is light, and grouping was very good @ 25 yds. in the 400 rounds that I fed it that day, it never hung, I was amazed. Hell, the Glock even jammed once on me. The trigger pull is very cool, it is a trditional double action for the first pull, and a single after that. In my opinion that just blows a Glock out of the water. The ergodynamics of the grip are phenomenal, I have yet to feel another weapon with that level of comfort. As for group soze, I would hasten to say that @ 25yds, from the bench, it will group quarter sized groups(10 rd. groups). From the hand it groups about a half dollar size group. As this is my primary carry weapon, it is always loaded and on my side at all times. My buddy Clock shoots a H&K USP .40, he asked if I would trade him, I told him to lick my butt, and get his own. Now I am looking forward to hearing about your hardware, Later! ;D

I would take either in a heartbeat. But if forced to choose, by name I would take the XD, by feel of grip I would take the Walther.... aahhhh forget it... just get both!

Hey waltherguy, i'd like to see pictures of you shooting quarter sized groups at 25 meters. Even better, i'd like to see you shoot half dollar sized groups at 25 meters, let me guess, with a long gun, you can shoot dime sized groups at 300 meters.
If i had a vote, i'd say you were full of shit
Just my humble opinion.

Here's my 2 cents worth: Buy the Walther. Later, buy a good Smith and Wesson revolver (N Frame). Good Luck.
