I would like to get one for my Walther P99. I was thinking f a Streamlight combo flashlight/laser or perhaps just the laser ? Can anyone give me some advise on this costly bolt on? I had the trigger pull reworked and love it. Im not sure if I will have the same results on a costly bolt on. Anyone have an opion on them

Mr. Bond,
Seems to me that the lasers would be a neat gadget, but not terribly useful for most.
For target shooting / hunting, it would take a bit of the fun/skill out of it I'd think. I'm more of an iron sights guy. That and the fact that being mounted so low relative to the barrel, if you are shooting anywhere much closer/further than your dialed in distance, your point of impact will vary more dramatically.
In a defensive situation it may be more useful, but I'd rather not give too much away if I don't have to. That red beacon may just become a disadvantage in the dark.
Hope this helps, MLBajorek

I have CTC laser grips on one pistol. They are not a substitute for learning to use the sights, and they are not a substitute for learning trigger control. They can be handy for dry fire practice.

I've fired with them during two range sessions. Maybe you eventually get used to them but I found them very distracting, especially in lighting where the beam is highlighted. Give me some night sights . . .

I think the only time I would want a laser is for night and when I have the advantage of knowing the layout of my house in the dark. I have to admit, when I was gripping and sighting my Springer with Novak night sights around the house in the dark, I was not comfortable sigthting with it, I found the dots too small. At that point I was thinking maybe the laser might not be sucha bad idea, of course you would not want to give away your position with it on all the time, but if you have the advantage in the dark knowing your home that may be all you need.
The other argument being that once you acquire the perp with your laser he may just stop dead in his tracks and seeing himself being pointed at may be enough for him to run.
