The Brownell's 1911 Auto Plunger Tube Crimper Kit is one of the best tools to have if you own a 1911.The plunger tube, located above the left grip panel, has only two rivets holding it in place.Occaissionally this tube will loosen and require re-tightening of the inner crimps of the rivets.A gunsmith might charge as much as $30. dollars to perform this, plus your time to drop it off, pick it back up,and down time of your pistol is a consideration. The part number is #080-806-500 ,it is called, The Plunger Tube Crimper Kit,Instructions are included, the cost is $52.74,can be found on page 81 of the 2002-2003 #55 Brownell's Catalog.Or visit Brownell's at: www.brownells.com

I can dig it. Any other great tools for the 1911 besides the usual "multi-tool" for stripping?

The one most important tool in my arsenal of tools for the 1911 is the Dremel Tool. The sanding drums make quick business of grinding the long grip tangs for the installation of a high ride grip safety. The polisher makes matching stainless thumb safeties to that of the polished slabs easier.Works good for polishing trigger shoe contact areas.Works good for polishing feed ramps.Works good for trimming grip panels for the extended thumb safety lever.Works good for lowering and flaring the ejection port.Works good for relieving the inner areas of the barrel bushing for fitting. Many uses for the dremel can be found anywhere a part is to be grinded down, polished,or both. This tool will often pay for itself after one single project.
