I know there are a lot of wise people in this form, so I am looking for you thoughts. What have you heard about this gun and do you think that people would even buy this gun?  ? |

Hi First off its not a .50 cal handgun its a 500 S&W Magnum. Which is alot bigger than a .50 cal. If I heard right its more powerful than a .44 and a .357 Mag combined. Brian is correct about the caliber.
Yes, people will buy it. Right now it would mostly be handgun hunters, some collectors and a number of people thinking bigger is better.
The last group will ensure some come up for resale rather quickly after they discover that kind of recoil hurts. Also the cost of ammunition is a bit high and while any dealer will order the ammo for you they may not opt to carry it "on the shelf".

For the average city slicker, this power house of a hand cannon will be purchased with one box of ammo and never shot ,with only one primary purpose,"Bragging Rights".Am I Right or Wrong? ;D

Your totally right DA. People are just going to buy it for braging rights. I just wish that a range would buy one because I sure want to shoot one just to see the power but I dont want to spend a grand on it.

The range near my home, where I most often go because of convienience,is indoors,and they have alot of different rental guns but I think most are trade in or used guns.This new S&W will probably be showcased very soon because they are really big on the S&W Performance Center guns.This pistol would be very disturbing inside with a 13 bay range;I'm hoping they send it to the rifle range when that time comes.When I shoot my .44 magnums everyone stops,I can only imagine what this gun will be like indoors;I would recommend an extra heavy padded motorcycle helmet,with ear plugs,and muffs.

All we have to do it wait for someone to use it in a movie, then it will sell like hotcakes!
I can see it now...Something along the lines of City Heat , Johnny Dangerously or Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
