The holster was a Bernes Martin "Lightning",which was bought up by Bianchi and sold as the #9,the inverted shoulder holster system. The revolver was a mid frame S&W .357 magnum.Roger or Trapper may help on the model number.

ADK Big Buck: I think it was a model 66, but I am not sure. I haven't seem the movie for a long time. Knowing Hollywood, they may have assembled some Smith and Wesson part and built a hybrid. Maybe someone else has more information.

I was thinking a 66 also Trapper; It's a real revolver because it's a Clint Eastwood movie.I might have it in my Video Library,I have most of his others but I wasn't too fond of the ones he made with Sandra Locke, except for "The Outlaw Josie Wales".

dubbleakshun: ALthough I think it is a model 66, if I recall correctly, the frame and bore looked larger than that on the .357 model 66. For awhile I though he was carrying a 2 1/2 44, but that is probably incorrect. I hope someone can shed the definitive light on this.

Trapper; It's the holster that's a give away on the gun also. That Bernes Martin is inverted and it retains the revolver by means of pressure on the cylinder. The leather has an inner layer with cylinder cut outs on each side, the holster is an open slit with a heavy spring mashing the outer edges together. The largest that I've seen will accomodate an L frame but no larger than that.I think you were right the first time.By the way, those holsters work real good with the S&W internal hammer revolvers.

ADK Big Buck : I don't think it was a Model 27. Model 27's are built on an 'N' frame. Also, they are very distinctive and easy to recognize. I have a blued 27 with a 3 1/2 barrel. I thinks the gun was more likely 'k' or 'L' frame. And as dubbleakshun writes, the holster won't accomodate the 'N' frame. I guess there is a slight possibility the Smith and Wesson Peformance Center built a custom gun for the movie. Why not email Smith and Wesson, and let us know what you find out. Good luck.
