Anyone use the dual action recoil springs from "The Recoil Doctor" for a 1911? www.recoildoctor.com/Got me a new Kimber Custom TLE II and the spring it came with I'm trying to discern if it's dual action or not. My father has purchased the dual action recoil spring from The Recoil Doctor and has had good experience with it on his Mil-Spec. I'm wondering if there is a better company or product to buy from. Any advice?...Dubbleaction...which do you use if any? Thanks in advance, ekg

Just looking at it, I think my Paraordnance may have a dual action recoil spring. It probably needs all the recoil dampening it can get.

ekg;I've been aware of these kind of systems for several years one similar system is from Sprinco that sells for $70. and up;another calling itself the Recoil Master that sells for about the same.I buy the Shok Buffers that cost only about $5 to 6 dollars for a pack of six,and they do the same thing. If the recoil is too hard,I increase the weight of the recoil spring, this also improves the feeding and cycle time of the slide.Wolff sells a recoil spring called the Variable power that stiffens as it is compressed. On the 3 1/2 inch barrel Colt Officer's .45 Acp,I tossed out the dual factory springs and replaced those with a single 22 lb. Wolff spring, installing a reverse recoil plug and a full length Cominolli rod with a dual buffer guide rod head. The Cominolli head has innner and outer shok buffers for extra protection from slide to frame battering and take up less room than the standard head for the shorter recoil of the Officer's 3 1/2 barrel length.I have a photo of the Comminoli system in my album pages at the GunmenII site. There are many Gimmicks associated with the 1911,choosing what you really need can save alot of money to be used on things that are more sensible. groups.msn.com/GUNMENII/191145acp.msnw?action=get_message&mview=O&ID_Message=469&LastModified=4675416668383508270

Dubb,
Thanks for the great advice. I'm gonna try and do some research on the Wolff Springs and the recoil buffers. Seems it may be a little cheaper than going with the Recoildoctor or Sprinco way.
Thanks again,

ekg;I'm just a guy on the internet;call Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat,he's the one who turned me on to them years ago.Ed Brown also endorses the Shok Buffers with his own line.Wolff Gunsprings are probably the best spring company that I've had dealings with. For the money saved you can buy a good leather concealment holster from Galco or a nice set of grips and some hex head grip screws.
