Actually let me clarify, I ask if they mind me testing the trigger pull, in which the shop I went to last did not mind as long as there were snap caps, and he was happy I did not just dry fire.

Mitch;Dry Firing is alright but dropping the slide on an empty chamber is like dropping a bottle of expensive wine before you decide to buy it.I was looking for that bit of information when I went to the page because I've read other articles,by others, who mentions doing the same thing.I'm usually more concerned with the barrel, side, and frame on a used pistol, because I replace the fire control components after I purchase it.

Ah, I don't think I've done that because it just does not seem right, I hold the slide back into position. Good point for all of us though.

Mitch;Go back and look on the Function pages. He drops the slide once while retracting it by hand, then he does it again using the slide stop, and recommends repeating it.He also mentions asking permission before dropping it with the slide stop. How does this sound,"Hey,You mind if I drop the Slide and let it slam home on the empty chamber"?,The sales guy:,"Sure,Why not,Everyone else does, and while your at it,why don't you cock it,and throw it 15 feet in the air, to see if the hammer drops on the firing pin after it hits the concrete floor". ;D Just trying to help out.

Xavier;I went through Shooter Joe's project,it proves the old saying,"To Each His Own".I have to admit,I've put better triggers in the bone yard.

....and then there are those things we put them in...................... Here's my Eclipse Pro in a Kramer Leather IWB #2. Black horsehide. Effortless carry, in one of my all time favorite holsters.

I really like that holster/rig for that kimber in the picture, might have to look for one similar for my Springer.

Hey guys, I finally bit the bullet (figuratively speaking) and purchased my first 1911. It's a Colt M1991a1 in stainless and it's a beauty. From the box, the trigger is very smooth and it breaks very nicely. The slide-to-frame fit is also tight, which is nice. It's not much to look at, but I love it. I'd like to customize it eventually, but for now, it's working great. Thanks to everyone who help me during my quest for 1911. ;D I'll post a pic when I find out how to. -ct

Just a thought; Those Armor Tuff finishes ( Could be Parkerized also) of the beavertail grip safeties are very abrasive to the web of the Hand.Yesterday, after putting close to 400 rds through the two Wilson CQBs,the web of my hand was worn so bad from the contact with the upper curve of the safety,I started bleeding, looked like a bad burn. That's the most that I've been able to put through the pistols since aquiring them. The roughness of the finish is something to consider on these beavertails;all my others are polished stainless or polished blued finishes.I have a spot on my hand that got worn from the standard safeties years ago,and this just opened up old wounds.
